Anna Marie Demos

Hey guys! I'm Anna Marie Demos from Centerville, Ohio! Some of my hobbies include playing guitar and piano, hanging out with friends, volunteering, working out, and the obvious... art! I have played softball my whole life, have been involved in YoungLife since freshman year, work at CoreLife Eatery, and am super into health and fitness! This summer, I plan to spend some time with all of these hobbies and interests. I am beyond excited to start my journey at Miami University to study Art Education. Art has always been a passion of mine and my mom is a teacher, so, naturally I became inspired by the idea of becoming an art teacher. As soon as a I stepped onto campus at Miami University, I somehow knew it was where I needed to be to pursue this passion of mine. I cannot wait to see where the next four years at Miami University takes me!

Holly Hemmeter

Hi everyone! My name is Holly Hemmeter and I’m from Centerville, Ohio. I’ve loved art since I was little, but it was only when I got to my sophomore year of high school that I realized that art was something I was extremely passionate about, and the following year I envisioned myself pursuing a career related to art. I dabbled in other activities growing up, such as sports and music but art is where I really felt at home. When looking for colleges, I scoured the internet looking for the best programs around the area, and Miami was one that stuck out to me. I visited other schools, but none of them felt like the right fit for me until I visited Miami. I decided on Art Education because of all of the amazing teachers I had in high school and middle school. To me, being a teacher is more than providing knowledge, it’s getting to know your students and influencing them in a positive way.  I am so excited to pursue my studies at Miami and working with the wonderful professors all around campus and I can’t wait to meet all of you!

M.Bea Hosenfeld

Hey there! My name is M.Bea Hosenfeld from Columbus, Ohio. Although my main hobby has always been art, I also love to write, act, sing, sew, and bake. My favorite forms of art are cartoons, fashion illustrations, oil paintings, and watercolor. I find a lot of inspiration in my art from my family and from stories, and always try to involve an element of humor to brighten anyone’s day. I loved Miami when I visited it as a child for a sibling’s college visit, and when I went for my own visit, I fell in love with it all over again. I’m excited to start my time as an Art Education student in the fall!

Lily Ellison

(entered major spring 2018)

Hi, my name is Lily Ellison and I am from Hilliard, Ohio. I love art so much that I like to wear images of famous pieces on my socks! So far, I have 9 pairs. I have loved all types of art since I was young, but currently, ceramics is my favorite. I draw a lot of inspiration from the anatomical form when making art. Other than spending time at art museums or in the studio, I enjoy being outside or at the gym. I play soccer, bike and do CrossFit, but here at Miami I am on the club boxing team. Elementary school through high school, I have had wonderful relationships with my art teachers. They have been some of the most influential people in my life. They have had such an amazing impact on me and the person I have become. They’ve all inspired me to want to provide the same support and guidance, through art, to others!

Maya Ruswinkle

Picture
Hello! My name is Maya Ruswinkle and I'm from Toledo, Ohio. I enjoy long walks on the beach, kayaking, theater, sewing reading, writing, and art. I have loved art since I was able to hold a crayon, and I have always wanted to include it in my career. When I was in grade school the art classroom was the only place that I felt safe enough to be myself and be creative. I want to be an art teacher so I can give a safe creative environment to children who need it. I am beyond excited to be a part of this program and I can't wait to get to know all of you!

Lucy Osborne

Hi everyone!! My name is Lucy Osborne and I am from Cleves, Ohio. For as long as I can remember art has always been a huge part of my life. I had known I always wanted art to be involved in my career somehow, and soon since discovered that teaching is my true passion. At my high school, I have worked our kid’s art camp programs and directed our kid’s drama camp productions every summer. I also launched an After Care in the Arts program for children who stay after school, and have loved every second of it! When I’m not spending my free time in art, I’m waitressing at Skyline, hanging with my friends, or going to the zoo! Watching the kids I have taught grow in their love for art has only encouraged my passion for art education, and makes me so excited for the journey we are all about to embark together. Miami is such a great place to be, and I can’t wait to meet everyone in the fall!!
