fAQ's (Frequently Asked Questions)

Are there jobs out there for art teachers?
YES!!!!! We get announcements periodically and quite regularly. If you're willing to explore a diverse array of options- there is opportunity out there. We'll post announcements as we hear about them on this page.

When do I start looking for jobs?
It's never a bad time to look around and see what's available. There are jobs out there, but sometimes you have to look beyond your "perfect job" into unexpected places.

When do I apply?
Hiring season differs from district to district. Postings could happen at any point depending on the reason/timing of the vacancy. Apply when you have your professional materials prepared and ready to send out. It is understood that students may be applying during student teaching with the intent to get a job the next semester.

Where do I look for art teaching jobs?
Jobs are posted here as we hear about them for the surrounding areas. You can also look at state and district websites of areas you're interested in. Don't discount Indiana and Kentucky, since we are very close to the borders. Also, don't hesitate to look further cross-country. There are opportunities everywhere! Once you get your license in Ohio, you can often get a transfer license to get you started elsewhere once you get a job. There is also a Miami Art Education Alumni Facebook page you can check. US Department of Education (national government site) as well as the Ohio Department of Education may also have useful links as well.
